These people that you see around town here are not actually in need. They do this for a living. If this is the same person I’ve seen around Walmart multiple times… there is a nice shiny white truck they belong with. Usually parked a little bit away from where she stands. I’ve traveled the country for work.. and seen this all over the place. California is huge for it. you try to offer food or even gas and they decline. All they want is cash.. in California you can sit everyday and watch people start showing up on corners and in the middle of the street doing this. if someone is really down on their luck, and really needs help, they wouldn’t decline any help being offered.

Good suggestions in general for those in need & good questions Petee but could this be an “In Plain Sight” situation? Do police or any human services (on the clock, or not) church, etc. even care that a young woman (girl) is asking for $$ in busy public places? Maybe someone did stop & she says she’s ok. Is she dropped off/picked up or walk to a motel or hotel here? Is someone always watching her & threatening her child or children if she doesn’t comply? Remember the sign “Human Trafficking Is Here” on Rt 219 S out of Brockway & why would anyone want to take it down? Pennsylvania is in the top 10 states dealing in trafficking. “Who’s In The News” post doesn’t show too many Pa arrests. This is such a heartbreaking subject to read & talk about but is necessary. Know of any local group specifically dealing with this?

Leaving her out there to beg is asking for trouble for her, her kids and for those around her. If she needs help, then someone should drop off their phone numbers for her. If she has no cell phone, then let her use yours. Who is taking care of her kids? Does she live with anyone? Where are her parents? How does she get to those spots to ask for money? These are danger signs for which we have a safe system of churches and government agencies to help. Churches first, then government agencies!
